This year Shell Tameer aims to increase its visibility amongst key stakeholders to attract entrepreneurial talent around Shell Tameer’s key thematic areas of Bright Energy Ideas, Empowering Women, Sustainable Social Change and Technology Innovation.
136 Students and start-ups from 5 prominent business and engineering educational institutes from across Pakistan including Iqra University, SOS Technical Training Institute Karachi, PLAN 9, Pakistan's largest technology incubator, College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (CEME-NUST) and The Incubator -Ghulam Ishaq Khan Instute (GIKI) were engaged by the Tameer team to create awareness around the programme and to reach out to potential start ups for the upcoming Shell Tameer Awards 2019.
The topics of the seminars covered, introduction to entrepreneurship, essential skills & attributes of a successful entrepreneur, generating and evaluating bright business ideas and process of starting an entrepreneurial venture.
Through these seminars, Tameer has reached out to some high potential entrepreneurs, which are aligned with Shell LiveWIRE’s global themes of Energy, Waste Management and Innovation:
A group of young engineers from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute have invented a process to produce LPG using recycled polythene bags. The business is at the prototype stage

Another project “Thailee” offers a biodegradable alternative to conventional plastic with similar properties. “Biodegradable Plastics” are made from an environment friendly organic origin, to eventually eradicate the harmful impacts of conventional plastics on environment
Going forward Shell Tameer hopes to work with these start-ups through a structured process of mentoring, business plan development and market linkages to help them grow and sustain through their integration in Shell's value chain.
